The world is an uncertain place. Recent developments in the Ukraine are a great cause for concern and a cause for restless nights, even if some of us are a world away. Our own country’s news of COVID measures being lifted, like masking and capacity limits, are long awaited, but this news is also tinged with uncertainty – are we really ready for this? So much uncertainty, so little control, it’s hard to know what to do. I just felt compelled to do something.
For many years I have tried to have a consistent yoga practice, but like most activities of self-care, it falls by the wayside. I made up my mind today, after listening to the news, that the time is now. I need to do this for my own grounding, my own health. We cannot help others if we ‘have to take a knee’. I subscribe to a lovely yoga post on Facebook called “Yoga by Lisa”. I opened my iPhone and sat on my mat. She led us through a breathing exercise that immediately calmed my mind. It definitely helped. I will still go to my horses for grounding, but it is important to be able to ground oneself when the horses aren’t readily available.
This are my short messages for today – take time to breath – be kind to each other. Namaste.
