
Both Tom and Victoria are veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces, retiring within a few months of each other in 2019. Tom served 32+ years as a Supply Technician in the Canadian Army, retiring as a Master Warrant Officer. Victoria served 27+ years as a Logistics Officer in the Canadian Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. They grew up in Pictou County, and came back to Pictou after their retirement. Since their return to Pictou County they have put considerable time and effort into starting It Takes the Herd Ltd.
It Takes the Herd opened in summer 2022 and offers sessions involving team coaching and individual wellness experiences with the herd.
Victoria
Victoria is undergoing Professional Equine Facilitated Wellness certification training to become a Pro EFW learning professional. Victoria is enrolled in the Masters in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University, with graduation planned for summer 2023. Victoria comes from a professional health services background, trained as a dietitian, and has several years teaching at the undergraduate university level. She also is completing a PhD in Organizational Behaviour, and has many years experience leading teams of various sizes.
Thomas
Tom is undergoing equine facilitated wellness training through the FEEL certification program (Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning). Tom is a graduate of the Social Services diploma program at the Pictou campus of the Nova Scotia Community College. Tom also has considerable leadership experience in developing effective solutions to complex organizational and team issues.
